Field trip canceled after Cy-Fair ISD bus crashes into ditch

HARRIS COUNTY, TX -- A Cy-Fair ISD school bus had a little trouble this morning when it ran off the road, crashing into a ditch.

The accident happened on Langfield Road near West Tidwell in north Harris County.

HPD says the bus slipped into the ditch, but there didn't appear to be any injuries to the driver or the children on board.

School officials say 51 third and fifth grade students from Holbrook Elementary School were headed to the nature trails for a field trip when the accident happened.

The bus driver reportedly swerved to avoid hitting a passing car, causing the bus to fall into the ditch right in front of the school.

The students are being monitored for injuries. But, even more disappointing news, the field trip was cancelled.
