Second busiest shopping day
Stores are preparing for the busiest shopping day of the year.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- December 26 is predicted to be the second busiest shopping day of the year according to a research firm by ShopperTrak.

Most shoppers will be hitting the stores to make returns or exchanges-which is why you need to know retailer policies before you head out the door.

Many stores will open early today. JC Penney will open at 6 AM instead of their usual 10 AM. Target opens one hour earlier than usual at 7 AM. Kohl's and Old Navy will also unlock their doors early.

Consumer Reports put together a list of best and worst places to make your holiday returns.

Bed, Bath & Beyond, Costco and JC Penney have no time limit on returns and those stores don't require you have a receipt.

But be warned, at places like Kmart, Sears, Forever 21, Game Stop and Barnes & Noble, you usually have 30 days or less to make that return and you'll likely need a receipt to do it.

Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, especially when it comes to returning electronics. Make sure you check out the retailer website for specific item information.
