Trying out curbside pickup
Trying out curbside pickupPatricia Lopez tries out HEB's curbside pickup

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Curbside pick up is the new thing for grocery stores, with both Walmart and HEB just launched their services late last year so we decided to test out the services.

The HEB off Bunker Hill Road is the only location that offers curbside pick-up.

At HEB.com, once we figured out where to order the curbside pickup service, we got to shopping.

Immediately we had trouble finding some of my favorite items. For example, I had trouble finding Mission brand white corn tortillas.

Also, we noticed in the search engine you can't be too specific, I searched juice boxes for my kids and got only three options.

But when I was more generic, I had too many choices.

It took about 20 minutes to purchase my items for a total of $49.36 and that includes a $4.95 charge for the service.

The next morning, we picked up our groceries at the designated curbside pick-up area and my groceries were loaded up within five minutes.

Once I got back, part of the order was wrong. HEB not only left out a pack of butter, but they gave me the wrong package. And the next day, my avocados were half spoiled.

After filing a customer form online the next day, I was given a refund for my butter, avocados and given an additional $10 to try the service again. HEB responded by saying they "as a pilot program, we appreciate any and all feedback to improve the customer experience and will continue to incorporate new efficiencies to mirror the same exceptional service customers expect when shopping inside our stores."
