Fatal shooting in Houston's Fifth Ward
Gunfire leaves one person dead, Deborah Wrigley reports.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person is dead and his neighbor in custody after an argument turned violent in Houston's Fifth Ward on Sunday.

When Houston police arrived to the 3200 block of Campbell Street, they found Victor Burke lying outside his front door with a gunshot wound.

Burke, in his 50s, was known to his family as "Binkie" and supported himself by working in lawn care.

"Wasn't a confrontational person, so I don't know what could have happened," Maverick Smith, Burke's nephew said.

Fighting back tears, Smith said Burke never owned a gun and never wanted one.

The neighbor, whose name has not been released, confessed to the shooting.
