SHENANDOAH, TX (KTRK) -- A person wearing a mask popularized by the movie "Scream" robbed a bank this morning in Shenandoah, according to police.

The robbery happened just before 8am at a Prosperity Bank in the 1400 block of Research Forest Drive when employees were readying for the day's business.

The robber, police say, held a female employee at gunpoint and forced her to unlock the bank's door.

Police say the masked crook escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The male is described as tall, 6'1" to 6"3", weighing 170 to 190 pounds, with a soft voice, and armed with a medium frame, black, semi-automatic pistol. There is no vehicle description or video footage of the suspect available at this time.

Shenandoah Police say they will be increasing patrol activities at local banks, and offer to escort employees to and from the parking areas prior to and after the close of business each workday.

If you have any information concerning this crime, call Detective Sergeant James Hulse at 281-367-8952. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 800-392-7867.

Police say the suspect may be wanted in other Prosperity Bank heists in Houston.
