13-year-old in Rosharon accused of stabbing her mother

ROSHARON, Texas (KTRK) -- On a quiet street in Rosharon, a new family had just arrived.

"[They've] got good neighbors, good kids," said Betty Washington.

Betty Washington lives a few doors down. She had not met the new neighbors yet.

Then on Thursday morning, she saw crime scene tape around the home. Fort Bend County deputies said a 13-year-old girl called them around 4 a.m. and said her mother had been stabbed.

Soon after, investigators detained the girl as the suspect.

"I was just in pure shock," said neighbor Brittany Brown.

"All we can really do is just pray for the family," said Washington.

Child Protective Services said they are investigating alongside law enforcement.

Neighbors said they believe the mother lived in the home with her two daughters.
