HOUSTON (KTRK) -- In a police lineup, Kay Hafford faced the man who she says tried to kill her.

"It made me nervous. I just shed my few tears and I let it go. I knew without a shadow of a doubt, it was him. Seeing him made me hurt a little bit. It was almost like he was just uncomfortable, and I looked at him and could tell he was sorry. Not sorry he got caught, but he really did look like he was sorry," said Hafford.

Deitrich Evans, 22, was arrested Monday morning for the March 20 road rage shooting. A task force took Evans down at his house on Aldine Bender. Sheriff's detectives say they discovered Evans' car, as well as the gun investigators say Evans used to shoot through Hafford's window after she honked her horn at him. A bullet grazed Hafford's head.

"I knew in my heart that he was on something and he had to be mad at something else," added Hafford.

As the weeks went by Hafford grew weary.

"I thought they were not going to catch him," she says.

Hafford told Eyewitness News while on her sick bed, all she could do was pray.

"I prayed and said God convict him to give himself up," she said.

That prayer was answered. Sources close to the investigation say Evans talked with a friend about the shooting and that friend went to police. Sources also tell me Evans even confessed to the shooting.

"I kinda feel sorry for him, but I'm not mad at him. I appreciate him coming forth. He just needs help and they got him," says Hafford.

Hafford is a miracle. She says her survival is also a lesson-learned.

"Yes it's definitely taught me to have more patience because everybody doesn't get this type of grace to live and be talking to a reporter about surviving and the guy actually getting caught, and I don't want to put myself in that predicament and not make it next time," says Hafford.
