Suspect arrested in shooting death of rapper Kid Cali

LOS ANGELES, CA -- A 19-year-old Inglewood man has been arrested in the death of rapper Kid Cali, who was shot at a Granada Hills house party last month.

Police arrested Kenny Birdine, 19, of Inglewood for first degree murder on Monday and the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office filed charges on Tuesday, with bail set at $3.1 million.

Investigators said the killing was gang-motivated but they did not provide additional details.

The 30-year-old Justin Lishey - known in the hip hop community as Kid Cali, as well as Cali Oso - was shot and killed in the backyard of a house in Granada Hills on Aug. 20. Two other people were also shot at the party, and were listed in stable condition at the time.
