LA JOYA, MEXICO (KTRK) -- If you're looking for the biggest party of 2016, you might want to head south of the border.

A father in Mexico was trying to make his daughter's birthday a special event when he created a video inviting close family and friends to her quinceañera. Little did he know that the guest list would grow to more than one million people.

"Hello, how are you? We invite you on December 26 to our daughter Rubi Ibarra Garcia's quinceañera in La Joya," Rubi's father Crescencio Ibarra said in the video. He also names the bands that will be playing at the birthday party.

"Everyone is cordially invited," Ibarra said.

Mexicans usually go big with quinceañeras, which is equivalent to an American Sweet 16 birthday party.

The quinceañera invitation ended up going viral. Thousands of people created copy-cat fake events and memes circulated the internet mocking the party.

When Rubi's dad found out about the fake event invites, he asked some Facebook users to remove them, according to Fusion. He clarified that the invite was only for certain friends and family in La Joya, and not the entire country of Mexico.

The Facebook event shows that 1.3 million people are allegedly going to the party, with 386,000 interested.

Feliz Cumpleaños, Rubi!
