Woman in critical condition after being shot by 17-year-old: Brazoria County Sheriff's Office

DAMON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman is in critical condition after being shot on Monday, in Brazoria County, the sheriff's office reported.

The victim's family member called the sheriff's office around 11:23 a.m. and told them that an 18-year-old woman was being threatened, according to officials.

Deputies said that when they arrived to search a home in the 3800 block of Live Oak Drive in Damon, they heard a gunshot from inside.

Officials said that deputies went inside and found the woman, who had at least one suspected gunshot wound, along with 17-year-old Giovani Gabriel Ayala Villaloboz.

The woman was taken to a Houston area hospital by Life Flight while Villaloboz was detained and taken to jail, where he's awaiting charges, the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office stated.

The victim, whose name hasn't been revealed to the public, is said to be in critical condition.
