
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Terminal E at Bush Intercontinental Airport will officially be renamed to honor late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee on Monday.
Jackson Lee spent nearly 30 years in Congress representing Texas' 18th congressional district and was well-known in the city of Houston and around the nation for her efforts in fighting for civil rights.
She also led the effort to make Juneteenth a federal holiday.
Lee died in July 2024, a little more than a month after announcing she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
