1 person dead after truck crashes into train, causing derailment at US 59 in Splendora, deputies say

SPLENDORA, Texas (KTRK) -- The north frontage road to I-69 in Splendora is expected to remain closed until at least noon Tuesday in the wake of a deadly crash that caused a train derailment.

Splendora police gave the traffic update Monday night, hours after at least seven train cars derailed off the tracks.

The frontage road between Kingsport and Fostoria is impacted.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the person behind the wheel of a truck slammed into the train. The driver died.

Officials did not provide further details about the person who was killed.
