THE WOODLANDS, Texas (KTRK) -- A small fire broke out at McCullough Jr. High on Thursday, Conroe ISD has reported.
Officials said the fire started as the construction crew was welding while working on the roof, but it was quickly put out.
The Woodlands Fire Department and the Conroe ISD maintenance department safely evacuated students and staff and got them back into the building as soon as possible, the school district said.
Classes located in the east wing of the building where the fire and smoke were isolated will be moved to alternative locations in the building until that area has been cleared for use, according to district personnel.
Conroe ISD said that everyone has returned to the building and are resuming their schedules.
