Several arrests made during overnight raid at after-hours bar in NW Harris County, deputies say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Deputies say several people were arrested overnight in a raid at an after-hours bar in northwest Harris County.

ABC13 is now learning that the facility was never approved to be open by the county in the first place.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office has not released how many people were arrested or what charges those people are facing.

Throughout the day on Friday, Eyewitness News crews a few people come get their vehicles outside of Tru Fuego Lounge on Veterans Memorial Drive, where that raid and those arrests took place early Friday morning.

Video from the early morning hours shows the moments after the raid as law enforcement arrived. There was a line of people with their hands against the wall outside of the facility.

A man, Byron Veliz, who works near Tru Fuego lounge, says during the day the facility is closed but at night it comes to life.

The listed hours for the lounge on their FaceBook are 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says they conducted what they call an "enforcement action" last night, calling it an after-hours bar that serves as a hub for criminal activity.

Veliz says he's surprised to hear about what happened and had never seen law enforcement there before, but he's unsure of what exactly unfolded.

On Friday, portions of the front of the facility were boarded up. ABC13 crews found a violation from the county on the door, which the county fire marshal's office says is for lack of construction permits and for operating without a completion of compliance.

The fire marshal's office said that the business was never approved to open its doors.

ABC13 has reached out to Tru Fuego, but we haven't heard back. The person who picked up the phone for the shopping center hung up on ABC13 when we asked for comment on this ongoing situation.
