Teen found shot to death in running car in Harris County ditch: HCSO

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office said they found a man shot dead behind the wheel of a car lying in a ditch.

Deputies responded to a call about a shooting victim in the 800 block of Salter Drive around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, HCSO said.

Officials said that when they arrived on the scene, they found an SUV in a nearby ditch with the engine running.

There, deputies found a man who appeared to be in his late teens sitting in the driver's seat with gunshot wounds, HCSO explained.

Emergency staffers pronounced him dead on the scene, according to HCSO.

After conducting a preliminary investigation, HCSO said they learned that the victim and suspected shooter met at a nearby parking lot for a prearranged meeting.

During this meeting, a confrontation occurred resulting in the suspect shooting the victim inside his car and afterwards, fleeing the scene, they added.

Detectives said they don't have have a motive for the shooting at this time.
