2 arrested, charged for roles in shooting at 'Club Chevron' in SE Houston, HPD says
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- At least two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting outside a southeast Houston gas station on August 16, according to Houston police.
The suspects were identified as 31-year-old Travion Joyce and 36-year-old Dasmin Young, according to the Houston Police Department. Officials said Young and Joyce were arrested early Wednesday morning by HPD's Special Weapons Division.
The shooting happened in the early morning hours at a well-frequented place unofficially called 'Club Chevron' on Cullen Boulevard. It is where people are known to gather overnight to drink and smoke, officials said.
HPD said that officers arrived in the area after reports of gunshots and saw a large crowd leaving the parking lot. Officers found 26-year-old David Hurd on the ground, suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
It still remains unclear what led to the shooting; however, witnesses told HPD that an unidentified person reportedly opened fire and fled in a white SUV.
HPD said one of the suspects, Young, was also shot and treated for their injuries. Officials said both are now charged with felon in possession of a weapon.
