
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Fire Department announced it completed a prescribed burn at two Houston parks, but warned that some people could still see or smell smoke nearby as logs continue to smolder.

Authorities said the prescribed fires were part of ongoing wildfire risk mitigation efforts.
"These operations reduce accumulated vegetation that could fuel dangerous wildfires while supporting the ecological health of this important natural area," HFD said on Facebook.
While HFD said people will still see smoke or smell it nearby, they are monitoring the areas to ensure they don't pose a threat.
