Knife-armed suspect trying to board bus in SE Houston dies after police fire shots: METRO

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A suspect who allegedly tried to board a bus with a knife in southeast Houston has died after METRO police shot him, officials said.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 10 a.m. in the 8200 block of Park Place Boulevard near Findlay Street.

Police said preliminary information revealed that a METRO bus driver observed the suspect holding a knife at a bus stop and did not allow him to board.

Officials said a METRO supervisor and METRO police officers responded, and the suspect charged at the officers, who fired their weapons at him.

Police said the suspect was shot in the leg. He received medical aid on scene and was taken to a hospital, where he later died at about 11:15 a.m.

METRO said that no customers or employees were injured during the incident.
