THE WOODLANDS, Texas (KTRK) -- A criminal investigation has been launched after multiple hidden cameras were discovered inside Memorial Hermann's Woodlands location. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office saying at least one of those cameras was found inside a bathroom.
The sheriff's office said one camera was found by a Memorial Hermann employee inside a single-stall unisex bathroom on Friday.
Law enforcement said after the discovery of the initial camera, the hospital initiated a search of the property. It's unclear if this is when other cameras were found and where in the hospital it was located.
ABC13 reached out to Memorial Hermann who confirmed an employee was fired, but wouldn't answer our follow up questions about who the employee was and if the hospital believed they planted the cameras.
The hospital has yet to acknowledge the existence of any hidden cameras, despite our continued questions over the last two days. So far the hospital is sticking to their original statement which was released on Monday, which admonished the behavior of the now-fired employee.
As of Tuesday, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said no one is facing charges related to this incident, but the sheriff's office has confirmed they are looking into a person of interest. That person's identity has not been released.
The sheriff's office confirmed the cameras have been turned over to their office, and they have launched a criminal investigation. That investigation includes processing all recordings on the cameras to determine possible victims and if any of them were children.
ABC13 is waiting for the sheriff's office to release dates that the camera was recording, but for now they ask anyone who believes they may be a victim to contact law enforcement.
