HOUSTON, Texas = (KTRK) -- Houston police are investigating a deadly shooting during what they call some type of "business deal" involving two young men in northwest Houston on Monday afternoon.

Police say the shooting happened near apartments in the 6400 block of Deihl Street just before noon.

Captain Ryan Watson of the Houston Police Department spoke regarding the shooting.

According to police, two young men in their late teens or early 20s met up at the apartment and tried to conduct a deal. That's when police say the suspect shot the victim.

Police say a woman who lives at the apartments loaded the victim into a car to take him to the hospital. They say she called 911 and met officers and paramedics at a nearby gas station.

The victim was pronounced dead in the backseat of the car.

A pistol and narcotics were found at the scene, HPD said.

Officers did not release a description of the suspect. An investigation is ongoing.
