FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Fort Bend County District Attorney announced that a man has been sentenced for the 2022 murder of a coworker.

ORIGINAL STORY: Man arrested for allegedly shooting coworker to death while working on fence in Richmond

According to a statement from the DA's office, 31-year-old Devonte Dejon Howard was convicted of murder on May 19 in a Fort Bend County jury trial. Officials said the jury sentenced Howard to 65 years in prison.

According to authorities, on April 20, 2022, 38-year-old Miguel Granados Jr. was repairing a fence in the backyard of a Richmond resident's home alongside then 27-year-old Howard. Investigators said Howard then shot and killed Granados. Howard turned himself in later that day and told detectives where to find the murder weapon, according to authorities.

The DA's office said Howard must serve half of his sentence before he can be considered for parole.
