HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A family member found a couple shot to death in their home in what investigators believe is a murder-suicide in northwest Harris County.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called for a welfare check at a home on the 13700 block of Bonaventure Drive on Thursday morning.
Authorities say a family member discovered a man and a woman with gunshot wounds inside the home. They added that three young children, aged 8 to 16 years old, were also present in the house, but they remained unharmed.
According to Sergeant Sidney Miller, the father of one of the victims stopped by the home because the children were not at school yet. Miller said when he arrived, he found the couple dead in the master bedroom while the kids were still sleeping.
Miller added that the man was in his 50s and the woman was in her 30s.
During the investigation, Precinct 4 officials discovered that the home had at least three calls related to domestic violence in the last three years.
The HCSO stated that homicide detectives and CSI agents were investigating the incident.
