JERSEY VILLAGE, Texas (KTRK) -- Jersey Village police say they've arrested a prolific mail thief after investigating him for more than a year.
Police executed a search warrant at Otis Fogle's Delozier Street home on Tuesday and say they found pillowcases stuffed with unopened mail and packages.
"The officer claims that there are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of pieces of mail in the house that they did the warrant for," a hearing officer said at Fogle's bail hearing.
On Tuesday alone, police say he stole mail from more than 10 of his neighbors.
Surveillance video shows a man riding a bike down Ashburton Drive at 3:45 a.m. He stops at multiple mailboxes and appears to take mail out.
According to court documents, a neighbor told officers their security camera caught Fogle tossing mail from his bike.
Tony To said he got a visit from police on Tuesday night, informing him the prescription glasses he'd ordered had fallen into Fogle's hands.
"He just showed me a picture of a package," said To. "I was like, 'Man, it shows it's been delivered, but I cannot find it, so here it is.'"
Records show Fogle has been arrested at least 25 times in Texas since 1996. Most arrests were for petty crimes, but also included charges of robbery and assault.
After allegedly denying people mail, Fogle was denied bail.
