HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Two men were arrested at a storage facility along the Northwest Freeway over the weekend, and a Precinct 4 spokesperson said stolen mail was found in the U-Haul they were using.
According to department officials, 300 stolen pieces of mail were recovered.
Department officials say the two behind the theft were Stephan Taltan and Curtis Baily. Both are now charged with third-degree felony mail theft after appearing in court.
Investigators have not said how they managed to steal so much mail or which neighborhood it came from.
As for how the two were arrested, a department spokesperson told ABC13 they were at a storage facility last Saturday when an employee called deputies, saying the suspects wouldn't leave the property.
When deputies arrived, according to court documents, they found a dozen credit cards in different names, as well as more than 30 stolen checks inside the U-Haul.
Officials with Precinct 4 have not said what prompted the vehicle search. While two people have been charged in this case, investigators say a third suspect has been identified but has not been arrested.
