Houston Astros announce Dana Brown is no longer its general manager

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Dana Brown is no longer the Houston Astros general manager, according to a statement the team released on Monday morning.

According to the Astros, Brown's departure from his role was based on a mutual agreement with the team.

Brown's departure is effective immediately, despite his contract running through the 2026 season after he took over as manager on Jan. 26, 2023, the statement said.

The team said Brown's responsibilities will be handed off to Astros Assistant General Managers Charles Cook, Gavin Dickey, and Connor Huff, and to Senior Advisor Jeff Bagwell. The team also said Astros Owner and Chairman Jim Crane will oversee baseball operations through the transition period as the team continues to focus on the American League West Division race.

In the statement, Crane thanked Dana for helping the Astros win two division titles and leading the baseball front office through key scouting, draft, and development efforts.

Brown thanked Crane for the opportunity to serve in his first role as an MLB general manager and said he looks forward to continuing his career in professional baseball.
