Jury sides with judge who accused estranged husband's girlfriend of accessing personal information

HARRIS COUNTY, Teas (KTRK) -- A Harris County judge won a million-dollar lawsuit after she claimed her estranged husband's new girlfriend threatened to expose her personal information, records reveal.

Judge Tamika Craft said she's relieved to know her case against Guardant Health ended with a judgment in her favor. According to records, Craft sued the California-based company for more than $ 1 million.

Craft said her personal information was accessed by a Guardant employee, who she says was her estranged husband's new girlfriend, over the course of six months in 2023 without her consent.

"She worked for Guardant Health at the time, and she searched my information," Craft said.

She said threats to reveal personal information to the public, including her Social Security number, caused her to act legally and through the county's judicial security team.

ABC13 is not naming the woman because she wasn't criminally charged and did not respond to a request for comment.

"They admitted I was never a client or a customer, but they have a relationship with Experian, and their employees are able to put a name in and pull up anyone's financial information," Craft said.

Despite Craft's role as a district judge, she said it was tough re-hashing private details.

"I am a public figure, and I realize certain aspects of my life are going to be public, but my private life should not fold over into my public life," she said.

Craft said she is speaking up because protecting private information outweighs domestic drama.

"This case is about an employee accessing my client's information without permission and weaponizing that information against her," Craft's attorney, Lema Mousilli, said.

According to court records, the other woman said that while she was living with Craft's husband, he had access to her Guardant work laptop, as well as his wife's sensitive information. The documents did not offer any proof of wrongdoing, and the husband was not part of the lawsuit.

Eyewitness News did reach out to Guardant Health, which said it did not have a comment on the case, saying it does plan to appeal the judgment.
