HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police say it was a domestic dispute that led to a shooting spree on Wednesday that spanned two cities and left four people dead.
Just after 12:30 pm. on Wednesday afternoon, police say Shelly Perrault crashed into the side of the road of Dairy Ashford in Sugar Land. They said the 47-year-old had been shot and died at the scene. Investigators believe William Lewis, a man she had dated on and off, was the suspect.
They believe that after Lewis shot Perreault, he drove to a car repair shop located at 13330 Fondren, in southwest Houston. Family members of the man who owned this body mechanic shop told ABC13 Lewis occasionally came in for car work. Police say on Wednesday, he showed up, argued with the shop's owner, and then shot him.
Witnesses say a number of people who worked at other car shops across the street came out to see what happened. One man had his phone out to record. Witnesses say that's when Lewis turned his ire toward them. Several workers told ABC13 that Lewis ran across the street and just started opening fire. As workers ducked and ran, bullets hit the man recording the video, and he too died.
Police say after killing three people, Lewis then drove up the street to the 8000 block Creekbend, just a few hundred feet from the home he shared with his own mother, and turned the gun on himself. Lewis's family would not talk on camera on Thursday.
Investigators with both the Sugar Land and Houston police departments are investigating all three shooting scenes, but so far, do not have a concrete motive on why Lewis took three lives - and then killed himself.
