Former cop, Magnolia ISD school employee charged with child sex assault, deputies say
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A Magnolia police officer turned school bus driver has been charged with sexually assaulting a child, according to the Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable's Office.
Brandon David Muse, 44, was arrested Tuesday in Minden, Louisiana, where deputies say he was working as a school bus monitor.
Investigators say Muse assaulted a 14-year-old girl three years ago in Montgomery County, although she didn't come forward until May.
"Most of our cases, in fact, are delayed what we call a delayed outcry where the victim finally feels comfortable speaking to somebody who he or she trusts," Capt. Adam Acosta said.
Records show Muse worked as a Magnolia police officer from 2017 to 2020.
Magnolia ISD confirms he worked as a bus driver trainee from August 2023 to January 2024 and then drove for them until April 2024.
Investigators say Muse was a friend of the victim's family and they don't believe he knew her through his job at the school district.
They say he was active in youth and church groups in Magnolia and The Woodlands and remained active after moving to Louisiana.
"He was always wanting to be involved with these youth groups of victims that were in 5th and 6th grader levels, so we are concerned that there could be another incident that may have happened that nobody knows about or has said anything about yet," Acosta said.
