MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man was arrested for alleged indecency with children for incidents that occurred in the 1990s, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

65-year-old Leland Fleming was arrested in Arkansas on Thursday and extradited to Montgomery County, where he is currently in jail, the sheriff's office said.

Fleming is charged with two counts of indecency with a child for incidents that spanned several years in the 1990s, MCSO said.

The sheriff's office said that a report made in early May by three women disclosed allegations that prompted an extensive investigation by the department's Special Victims Unit.

Detectives said the investigation determined Fleming, who had been involved in various religious ministries throughout the county, had also worked with children's choirs and homeschool groups during his time in the area.

A warrant for Fleming's arrest was issued in late May, which led to his arrest this week. The sheriff's office said he is being held without bond.

As the investigation continues, Montgomery County officials are urging anyone with information to contact the sheriff's office at 936-538-5900 and to mention case number 26A156874.
