Suspect shot after firing at deputies responding to disturbance call in NW Harris County, HCSO says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A suspect was shot after he allegedly opened fire on Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies who were responding to a domestic disturbance on Wednesday evening.

According to authorities, the incident occurred at about 6 p.m. in the 10700 block of Wolsley Court, where deputies were called after a 66-year-old intoxicated man threw his wife out of their home.

Deputies first spoke with the woman outside the house, and as they entered the home to speak to the man, authorities say, he immediately began shooting at them.

Deputies say they returned fire and struck the man. He was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.

One deputy suffered a laceration to the forehead, though officials said it did not appear to be caused by a bullet. The deputy is expected to fully recover. The other two deputies at the scene were reportedly unharmed.

A full investigation is underway.
