Video shows moments leading up to deadly shooting of man outside NW Harris County gas station

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- An investigation is underway in northwest Harris County after Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said a man was shot and killed outside a gas station.

Gonzalez said deputies responded to the shooting in the 119000 block of Bammel N. Houston Road on Friday morning.

ABC13 obtained surveillance video of the shooting and the moments leading up to it from a nearby business.

The video shows three people walking away from the pumps as they appear to exchange a few words. Just as two of them walk out of view from the camera, the third person is seen pulling a gun and shooting.

"We do seem to have a large number of firearm casings in front of the store, so it's possible a lot of shots were fired," Gonzalez said. "It happened to be that our deputy was in very close proximity here so he arrived within just a short time frame, just a couple minutes, he and another Precinct Four deputy constable that was in the area began attempting life-saving measures, CPR, to no avail."

There is no word on any suspects' descriptions or arrests. Investigators said an area hospital did reach out to the sheriff's office about a man who had arrived shortly after the shooting with a gunshot wound. Investigators said they are questioning the man to determine if he's involved.

The owner of the Texaco, Iqbal Naveed, spoke to ABC13. He said his business also caught the shooting on surveillance video, which he gave to investigators. He said he hopes it caught something that will point police in the right direction.

"It hurts my business and scares my customers, but what can I do? I can't do anything," Naveed said.

ABC13's SkyEye flew over the scene, where several police cars were surrounding the store, with red and yellow caution tape.

According to HCSO, due to the shooting, Klein Independent School District placed multiple schools nearby in secure mode.
