CROSBY, Texas (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash between a train and an 18-wheeler on Wednesday in Crosby.

HCSO Patrol District 3 said the train and semi-truck collided on Crosby Dayton Road near Ramsey at about 11:30 a.m.

When deputies arrived, officials said an 18-wheeler was on fire. The Crosby Fire Department put out the fire and remediated any diesel fuel from it, Capt. James Lovett said.

Lovett said there are no known hazards being released, but traffic is being diverted around the crash. The captain said the Harris County Pollution Control was called out to make sure any contaminants are cleaned up properly, which he said would take a couple more hours.

SkyEye was above the scene, capturing what seemed to be the semi's load scattered near the train. Officials said the truck was loaded with only pipes.

Lovett said the big rig driver or train engineers were not hurt.

He added that a short shelter-in-place was issued but quickly lifted after it was determined no tank cars were damaged or ruptured.
