
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- Four people were killed in a crash involving three vehicles in Sabine Pass on Monday afternoon, the Department of Public Safety says.
DPS officials said that the crash happened at about 3:50 p.m. in the 3000 block of South Gulfway Drive on Highway 87.
According to DPS troopers, a Chevrolet Express passenger van was traveling northwest, while a Prevost passenger bus was traveling southeast, followed by an Audi passenger car. Authorities said that the van crossed over into the oncoming lane and crashed into the bus. After the impact, the van went into a ditch, and the Audi hit the rear of the bus, investigators said.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 28-year-old Cesar Rojas of Baytown, as well as three passengers, identified as 27-year-old Emmanuel Reynosa Rivas, 28-year-old Angel Dominguez, and 27-year-old Osvaldo Alvarez, were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Officials said other passengers in the can include 38-year-old Raul Silverio Trujillo, who was taken to a hospital in Beaumont, where he was treated and released; 37-year-old Rodolfo Garay Jr., and 22-year-old Caleb Burge, were also taken to a Beaumont hospital, where their injuries are reported to be critical. 50-year-old Fernando Rojas and 26-year-old Robert Zackery Sebastia Hoyt were taken to Memorial Hermann in Houston, where their injuries remain unknown at this time, officials added.
Authorities said the driver of the bus, identified as a 48-year-old man from Vidor, was taken to a Port Arthur medical center, where his injuries remain unknown. The driver of the Audi, identified as a 28-year-old man from Rosharon, was also taken to a Port Arthur medical center, where he was treated and released.
DPS Troopers said the investigation is still ongoing with no further information available.
