HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Two firefighters and a driver were rushed to the hospital after the driver crashed into a firetruck blocking traffic on I-45, the Houston Police Department said.
Officers said it all started when they responded to an unrelated crash on the Gulf Freeway in the Clear Lake area on Friday night.
During that crash investigation, a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed struck a parked HFD fire truck, Sgt. Mike Barrow said.
Two firefighters were hurt and were taken to the hospital, Barrow said. He added that the driver was also taken to the hospital due to being critically injured.
HPD said it was investigating whether the driver was impaired, as there were no signs that the driver had attempted to brake before the crash.
Barrow said an investigation is underway.
