19-year-old passenger critically hurt in shooting along North Freeway, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A 19-year-old passenger in a pickup truck was shot near the North Freeway on Sunday night, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, someone opened fire at the truck near I-45 and Airtex Boulevard at about 11:30 p.m.

Video captured by ABC13 at the scene shows bullet holes in a black pickup truck.

Police said the driver was heading southbound before pulling off the highway at Glenborough, where officers reported finding the truck.

Authorities said the 19-year-old man who was shot was sitting in the backseat, and two other people were in the car with him. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

Police did not reveal what may have led up to the shooting, but they said they do not think it is related to road rage.
