Sugar Land elects a new mayor

SUGAR LAND (KTRK) -- Sugar Land Mayor-Elect, Joe Zimmerman won the runoff election with a 61% of the vote last night.

Zimmerman says he is looking forward to bringing his business experience to lead the City of Sugar Land as it continues to grow.

Zimmerman is a current council-member and former Chairman and member of the Planning & Zoning commission.

Sugar Land's current Mayor Jimmy Thompson, who is leaving office due to term limits, endorsed Zimmerman during the runoff.
