Two men charged in carjacking and chase

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two men have been charged in a violent carjacking that led to a police chase and came to a violent, crashing end, with the masked driver taking off on foot.

A high speed chase Tuesday in northeast Harris County ended when a suspected carjacker slammed into an innocent driver.

Eyewitness News had the exclusive video of the end of the pursuit. We blurred the video because a person in the truck was thrown out of it.

The chase ended in the Cloverleaf area, but it began several miles away in Pasadena. Police say Jonathan Zapata Castaneda, 22, and Christian Velazquez, 20, stole the truck at gunpoint.

Police nabbed the suspect following a crash and foot chase.

Police picked up the trail with a GPS locator and the brief chase was on.

But then the truck collided with a car, T-boning it at an intersection.

Castaneda is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Velazquez is charged with felony evading and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Both have been denied bond.
