Chase suspect dies in crash in north Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A police chase ended with the death of a driver on Houston's north side last night. The driver police were chasing crashed and died.

Police tell us they spotted a car going the wrong way on Fulton around 11pm and tried to stop the driver, but that driver took off. The chase went into a neighborhood street, ending on Sunnyside Street at Nordling Road.

Houston Police Department's Victor Senties said the driver hit an elevation in the street and lost control, hitting a tree.

Another man in the car was taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive his injuries. There's no word yet on why the driver tried to run.
