COLLEGE STATION, TX (KTRK) -- A College Station woman had the fright of her life after she found a 12 foot python in her bathroom.

Veronica Rodriguez made the discovery a week ago while washing the family guinea pigs.

"I had the back door open and I was just running in and out one at a time with the cages," Rodriguez said.

She estimate her door was left open for about 15 to 20 minutes. Once all the pets were washed, she left them in a bedroom.

About 3 hours later, while on the phone, Rodriguez heard noises.

"I started hearing more noises," said Rodriguez. "This time I told my mom don't hang up I think somebody broke into the back of my room."

When she flipped on the bathroom light, she freaked out.

"The only thing I saw was the tail," said Rodriguez. "I mean he was not all the way into the tub. So he was knocking down the shampoo's and conditioners."

She called 9-1-1, and police alerted animal control. It took a city trash can to capture the aggressive African rock python. Now that same trash can gives Rodriguez the creeps.

"They parked it right there on the side of my house," Rodriguez said. "I was afraid to go on that side. I was afraid to get close to where it was."

Once animal control posted a listing for the snake on its website, a man claimed it. He had a permit for the snake saying it escaped two months ago when he moved from college station.
