Casey Curry shares how to protect your dog's feet in the hot Houston weather (KTRK)

Hot pavement during these long summer days can be downright dangerous for your pets.

There's a simple test you can do to see if the sidewalk or street is too hot for a walk.

Just hold the backside of your hand on the pavement for at least five seconds. If it's too hot for you hand, it is definitely too hot for your dog to walk on.

You can also have your dog wear protective dog socks, like these from Pawks. These will keep your dog's paws from getting burned.
