PEARLAND, Texas (KTRK) -- Pearland police are investigating after officers shot and killed an armed suspect Tuesday afternoon.

Pearland police said they received a call Tuesday at around 3:22 p.m. in the 1100 block of Sussex Trail from a woman stating she was being held in her home by her neighbor.

"He [suspect] walked to her house, made contact with her and then refused to let her leave. Our investigators gonna look at every aspect of this," said Pearland police's public information officer Jason Wells.

When police arrived at the scene, officers said a man came out of the house with a weapon in his hand. Police said the man was not complying with orders, leveled his gun at the officers, and kept walking forward. That's when officers fired at the suspect and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors in the area tell ABC13 the man never leveled his gun at officers, but they may not have had the perspective officers did at the time.

The man was described as an elderly white male, who has not been identified. No one else was injured in the shooting, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Pearland Police Department at 281-997-4100.
