HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Oscar Mayer's world famous Wienermobile stopped by the ABC-13 studios this morning.
For more than 8 decades, the famed hot dog shaped vehicle has been roaming the streets. The 27-foot-long hot dog on wheels has been an iconic part of American history for generations. It was first created by Carl Mayer, Oscar's nephew, back in 1936 as a way to bring smiles to a country during the Great Depression.

According to the company, there are six Wienermobiles on the road on any given day. Recent college graduates known as "Hotdoggers" drive the big dog and give out toy whistles known as "Weinerwhistles."
