FINLAND (KTRK) -- If your dream job involves walking through the snow, we may have found the perfect job for you. The Arctic Snow Hotel -- a lodging actually made of snow near the border of Sweden -- is hiring an "aurora borealis monitor." This job involves being on the hunt for one of Earth's most beautiful natural wonders -- the northern lights.
The job is a three- to six-month position. Whoever gets the job will have to stay awake between 11pm to 6:30am and watch the night sky for the northern lights. Aside from staying up in the wee hours of the night, the monitor will also need to predict weather patterns for the best guess for where the northern lights will show up next. And when the monitor sees the lights begin to brighten up the sky, the monitor will ring the "northern lights alarm."
The hotel does require all job applicants to speak English. Whoever gets the job will get to stay in a room at the Arctic Snow Hotel free of charge.
The only thing holding us back from applying? The job posting is in Finnish and the hotel has not revealed how much their aurora borealis monitor will be paid. However, the opportunity to stay at the hotel does include perks like access to the snow sauna, outdoor hot tubs, and lakeside restaurants.
If this all sounds like your snow-covered dream, they're accepting applications through Sept. 11.
