HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Emergency roadwork is complete on the North Freeway a day after the highway was closed by TxDOT.
The closure began at 11am Friday as crews work to repair a crumbled section of the roadway.
The pavement repairs closed three northbound mainlanes and a left shoulder lane.
The expectation was to have the road opened by 11am on Saturday, but an attempt to repair the roadway with an asphalt mix didn't take. TxDOT says crews had to saw out the section of the damaged road and filled it with concrete.
Concrete takes longer to set than the asphalt, so the closure was expanded with an expectation to reopen by 4pm.
