HOOKSETT, NH (KTRK) -- Surveillance cameras captured a violent confrontation between a Subway employee and a person robbing her store.

Police said the robber remains at large and the woman is lucky she wasn't seriously hurt -- or worse.

Just before 8:30am Monday, a masked man walked into the Subway and tried to walk out with the cash box.

The man tried to slip out the back door, but the woman wouldn't let him leave without a fight. The two struggled before the robber broke free and escaped to a waiting car.

Police say the male robber seemed to know exactly where to go inside the store.

"He came in the front door, grabbed the cash box, and headed right for the backdoor to leave," said Sgt. Matthew Burke of Hooksett Police. "The employee that was on site prepping some of the food for the day saw him go by, so she tried to grab ahold of him."

There was no weapon shown, but during a violent fight to hold onto the cash box - which fell and broke open - the masked man grabbed a fistful of cash before overpowering the woman and escaping.

"We don't recommend anybody does this," Burke told local station WMUR. "It's just money. Let it go, be safe, call the police, and don't try to confront these people. You never know what they're willing to do."

Burke said the employee was shaken by the incident, but wasn't hurt.

The robber and getaway driver remain at-large, police say.
