Tipster led authorities to Texas most-wanted fugitive

James Lee Matley (Texas Department of Public Safety)

One of the state's most-wanted fugitives has been arrested in West Texas by authorities acting on a tip.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said in a statement Friday that 40-year-old James Lee Matley was arrested on a parole violation this week in El Paso County.

Authorities say Matley's offenses include burglary, assault causing bodily injury and deadly conduct. He was found at a home in San Elizario, south of El Paso.

Authorities say he's a member of the Texas Chicano Brotherhood gang and that a reward will be paid for his capture.

So far this year DPS and other agencies have arrested 10 most-wanted fugitives and sex offenders. About $21,000 in rewards have been paid for tips leading to those arrests.
