LEAGUE CITY, TX (KTRK) -- Three people, including an elementary school student, were injured when a school bus crashed into the side of a home.

The accident happened around 7:30am at a home on Coleman Boylan Drive in League City.

League City Mayor Timothy Paulissen lives just four doors down from the accident scene. When he heard a loud noise he first thought was thunder, he took a short walk outside and couldn't believe what he was seeing. "Just disbelief that something like this could happen."

A spokesperson from Clear Creek ISD says the bus driver, Bryan Stachey, 25, is believed to have had a medical situation and may have passed out, leading to the accident. Stachey was taken to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center with minor lacerations.

Police said there was no indication that Stachey was on any medication or under the influence of anything.

A teacher's aide and Ethan Broadway, an 11-year-old special needs student, were also on board at the time of the crash.

"I didn't know that was going to happen because I just felt like we were going over bumps and then we just crashed," recalled Ethan. "And my head hit the seat."

"When bus made impact with the home, the student safely evacuated through the back end of the school bus and walked home," said CCISD spokesperson Elaina Polsen.

"I pressed the password for the garage then I open the door and I ran upstairs to my brother, my big brother Casey, and I told him what happened," Ethan explained.

Officials say Ethan was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Ethan, the aide and the bus driver all suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

There were a couple of kids inside the home when the accident happened. No one inside the home was injured.

Authorities first had to stabilize the home with pieces of lumber before towing the school bus away. The damage became even more visible after the bus was removed. It's expected to take months to repair the home.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The driver has not been charged at this time.
