Suspected robber shot by deputies outside Family Dollar store

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Harris County sheriff deputies called to a robbery in progress got into a shootout with a robber.

This happened around 9:30pm at the Family Dollar off Kuykendahl and Ella.

Deputies say they saw the robbery suspect inside the store when they arrived on scene. When the robber came outside, deputies confronted the suspect and shots were fired.

It is unknown at this time how many times the robber was shot. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

No deputies were injured. The scene is still under investigation.
