HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two people are hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting Sunday afternoon outside a southeast Houston gas station.

Security video from a neighboring business shows a man getting out of truck that stopped on Bellfort. He was carrying what's believed to be an assault rifle. Within moments, he approaches a car, fires several rounds, then walks back to the truck, which slowly drives away.

The man in the car was struck several times, including a shot to the head. He is currently listed in critical condition.

In the midst of the melee, a woman was struck by a car as she tried to hide from the gunfire. An onlooker believed the woman may have been pregnant. Police could not confirm that.

"Anyone who would shoot someone with an assault rifle in the middle of the day is a dangerous person," said Assistant HPD Chief Troy Finner. "We are pursuing every lead and will be asking the public's help to bring this person to justice."

For business owner Daniel Chang what happened Sunday was different.

"This is pretty up there, like I said, this was in broad daylight," Chang said. "Who is gonna do this in broad daylight?"

Just three hours earlier, there was another shooting at the A M Mini Mart, located at 6830 Cullen. Investigators have not confirmed if the two are related. According to investigators, a black car with rims pulled up and opened fire. A male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone one with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
