Man killed in north Harris County crash was headed to work, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man was killed in a crash Tuesday morning as he was leaving to go to work in north Harris County, according to authorities.

The crash happened at about 4 a.m. at Sablechase and TC Jester. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, a red Toyota was headed northbound on TC Jester when the driver allegedly ran a red light and hit a white RAV4.

HCSO said the driver of the RAV4 was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the red vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities added that they found open containers inside the red vehicle but say it's too early to conclude if the driver was intoxicated.

While the identity of the victim killed is unknown, authorities said he was a Hispanic man in his 50s, lived in the neighborhood, and was leaving for work.

An investigation is continuing into the case.
